Infant Swimming Resource Lessons

A Life Saving Self-
Rescue Program

Infant Swimming Resource Lessons

Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) goes beyond traditional swim instruction. ISR teaches children how to survive in the water. Depending on your child’s age, your child will learn different levels of Self-Rescue skills, including a roll-back-to-float or a swim-float-swim sequence.

The unique ISR technique educates infants and children aged 6 months to 6 years on self-saving strategies in the event they find themselves alone in the water.

A Life Saving Self-Rescue Program

Children between the ages of 6 to 12 months old are taught to roll over and maintain a floating position in the event of an accidental fall into the water. Teaching your infant to float takes approximately 3-5 weeks. Private 10-minute lessons are held 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. Fully skilled infants can maintain a float in a bathing suit or in clothing. ISR highly recommends survival training when your infant can sit alone unassisted.

Children over the age of one year old are taught to swim with their faces in the water, and when they sense the need for air, to roll onto their back and float. After resting and catching their breath, they are taught to roll over and continue to swim to the nearest point of safety.

All lessons are held at the Highlander Aquatic & Fitness Center in Howell, MI.

Kelly Arendt

Certified ISR Instructor

I am so proud to be a part of the solution for infant and child drowning and excited to bring ISR lessons to the families in our community.  I am extremely passionate about this life saving skill and I can’t wait to share it with you and your child.

While working to complete my certification as a Child Life Specialist, I came to the realization that I want to prevent tragedy rather than treat it. My focus is on safe, customized, one-on-one lessons to deliver the most effective results for your child.

  2. I will confirm your spot and send you an invoice for your 50% deposit.
  3. Two weeks before your session begins, I will email you a unique URL address so that you may register your child with the ISR National Office.  All students must be cleared through the ISR National Office prior to starting their first in-water lesson.
  4. Once your child has been registered and approved with the ISR National Office, the second half of your tuition ($300) will be due. You will receive a Welcome Letter from me along with an invoice for your balance.
